How to pack your item
Good packing means the item arrives exactly as described — and that protects your reviews, your payout and your Seller Protection. Five minutes now saves a damage claim later. Here's how to do it right every time.
1. Pick the right packaging
Use the smallest packaging that still leaves room for padding on every side.
- Soft, unbreakable items (clothing, textiles, accessories): a poly mailer or padded envelope is perfect — light and cheap to ship.
- Fragile, rigid or valuable items: a sturdy cardboard box with space for cushioning.
- Reusing a box is fine and eco-friendly — just remove or cover every old label and barcode, or flip the box inside out.
- Don't ship in a product's own retail box alone — put it inside another box so the original stays mint.
- Don't overstuff a box so it bulges, or use one so big the item rattles around.
2. Protect what's inside
- Wrap the item in bubble wrap or paper, and fill every empty space so nothing shifts in transit.
- Double-box anything fragile — a padded inner box inside a larger one, cushioning between them.
- Bag anything that could leak, spill or stain, and use a waterproof poly mailer for clothing so it stays dry.
- Separate items that could scratch or rub against each other.
3. Weigh & measure
Weigh the parcel after it's packed — box, padding and all — then pick the shipping size that matches when you list or send the order.
- Choose the shipping option that fits your packed weight and size; the wrong one can delay the parcel or cost you the difference.
- For larger parcels, measure length × width × height so the carrier accepts it.
Tip: weigh everything together, including the packaging — every ounce counts toward the shipping price.
4. Seal it properly
- Run strong packing tape along every seam and opening — tape the top and bottom in an "H" shape.
- Remove or fully cover any old shipping labels, barcodes and hazardous-material markings.
- Don't rely on string, masking tape or sticky dots as the main seal — they pop open in transit.
5. Label it & take photos
- Attach the shipping label flat and complete, so every barcode scans cleanly.
- Mark the parcel Fragile if the item is breakable.
- Photograph the item packaged up — before and after you tape the box. Those photos are your proof if a buyer ever opens a damage claim.
6. Ship within 5 days
- Drop the parcel off with your chosen carrier, or at a parcel locker, within 5 days of the sale.
- Add the tracking number on the order page and confirm shipment — that starts the buyer's delivery window and is required for Seller Protection.
- Keep your drop-off receipt until the order completes.
